On top of all your great points, I wanted to add that if one or more of your friends joins a fan page, it will show up in your highlights along the right side of the page and even possibly in the people you may know area. I love the way that facebook is laid out for such easy use and I definitely search for the companies which I know and love and it makes me appreciate and respect them even more. Also, if I see a new company, I will click on their page and check them out and even if I have never heard them I usually join the page just to see where the company will go.
