Here is the info from the Facebook website. It's on help page: http://www.facebook.com/help.php?page=900.

Q: I tried to secure a name for my Page but Facebook said the Page was not eligible. What are the requirements?
A: Your Facebook Page must meet two requirements: it must have been live on Facebook prior to the May 31, 2009 cut-off date and have had a minimum 1,000 fans at that time.

This limitation is temporary. All Pages created after May 31, 2009 or that had less than 1,000 fans on that day will be eligible to claim usernames on Sunday, June 28, 2009 if they have more than 100 fans.

Originally the minimum was 1000. Facebook said the minimum would be "lifted" on June 28th. (I was assuming that lifted meant zero.) On the 27th, the above statement suddenly said "more than 25 fans" and the next day it had been changed to "more than 100 fans". I do check this page/statement frequently in case they lower the minimum and I will definitely post a blog about it if they do :)

You can also go to http://www.facebook.com/username/ periodically and try to claim a vanity URL for your fan page. If your page doesn't meet the minimum fan requirement, you will get a message saying your page isn't eligible at this time.

My blog posts are imported into my Facebook Fan Page at www.socialnetworkingforbusiness.info so if you become a fan of my page that's another way you can stay updated.

Thanks for your question Marie!

Looks like it's not happening tonight! The only thing on FB's site that I found with a time says that "new users" can claim a username on June 28th at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

Does that mean that's also when we can claim Fan Page URL's? We can only wait and see...ugh!

Today June 28, the time is 12:19pm now in Malaysia, which I believe it's 00:19 EDT. But I still can't get the username for my page even though I have more than 25 fans.

That's awfully upsetting that Facebook would limit it in this way! I hope they change their mind at the last minute, or at least give us additional information soon!
