Unfortunately many people say they do a lot of business networking when all they really do is talk about themselves at networking events and see how many business cards they can collect (only to be forgotten or thrown away). If you want to learn how to do business networking the right way, I recommend the following two books:
- Little Black Book of Connections: 6.5 Assets for Networking Your Way to RICH Relationships – by Jeffrey Gitomer
- The One Minute Networker: The nine simple laws of networking that will change your life forever – by Bryan Thayer
Both books are quick reads and are organized so you can read small sections at a time. I frequently read a couple of pages in Jeffrey Gitomer’s book just as a “reminder” of the right way to participate in business networking.
